Rummenigge: “Club World Cup Will Be Very Popular Among Fans”
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a member of Bayern Munich’s supervisory board, expects the upcoming Club World Cup, set to be held in its new format next summer, to be highly popular among fans.
The former CEO of Bayern Munich told Kicker magazine: “This tournament, being held in this format for the first time next year, will excite people. I’m convinced it will be a great tournament, and it will only take place every four years. We shouldn’t forget that.”
The FIFA Club World Cup, organized by FIFA, will be held in the United States with 32 participating teams. Rummenigge views it as a test for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Recently, the Club World Cup, scheduled from June 15 to July 13 next year, has faced growing criticism. Players warn of an overload of matches, and potential issues may arise due to contracts ending on June 30 during the tournament. Additionally, no sponsors or media partners have been announced yet.
