G7 defense ministers demand Iran stop supporting Hamas and Hezbollah

G7 defense ministers on Saturday called on Iran to stop supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and others.

In a statement, the ministers said, “We urge the Yemeni Houthi group to immediately cease their escalatory actions, which further destabilize the region, and to immediately release the ship Galaxy Leader and its crew.”

The statement, according to Reuters, also emphasized the importance of supporting UNIFIL forces and the Lebanese armed forces in ensuring the stability and security of Lebanon.

The G7 defense ministers met on Saturday in Naples amid escalating tensions in the Middle East as the Israeli military continues operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon and strikes in Gaza following the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
