Minawi: “If We Wanted Money, We Would Have Gone to the Sponsor”

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minawi, stated that they were forced into war to protect their people, land, and honor. He emphasized that they support ending the conflict and are calling for a long-term ceasefire.
During a seminar in Paris, Minawi said, “We demand a long-term ceasefire for an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.”
He added, “They claim Minawi wants to include Islamists in the dialogue. I say no one has the right to strip any citizen of their Sudanese identity. The dialogue should not exclude any political, religious, or tribal group. Exclusion is what led us to this situation. Peace will not be achieved without everyone’s participation.”
Minawi criticized the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) for their slogan “Just Fall” which, according to him, led to the fall of the state, and he accused thieves of being behind them.
He revealed that he was at the top of the assassination list and clarified that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are not linked to the Rizeigat or Arabs but are militias with no connection to the ethics of the Arab people.
Minawi described the campaign against the 1956 Sudanese state as a major conspiracy, stating that the independence of Sudan was achieved through the blood of their ancestors.
The Darfur governor urged the international community to act urgently to stop the random killings in El Fasher, lift its siege, and prevent attacks on its hospitals and the destruction of the city.
He declared, “If you think El Fasher will surrender tomorrow, that is impossible. The women of Abu Shouk and Zamzam camps, the youth of the joint forces, the Sudanese army, and the mobilized people make it impossible for El Fasher to surrender.”
Minawi addressed those he called “the cunning ones,” saying: “If we wanted money, we would have gone straight to the sponsor; he has oceans of oil and gas. But the heroes of the joint forces are honorable, fighting for land and honor.”
