Member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Engineer Ibrahim Jabr, affirmed Sudan’s government’s full cooperation with all organizations and UN agencies to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
On Monday, Jabr met with a high-level joint delegation led by Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, Raouf Mazou, and UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, Edward Gibbens.
Jabr stated that the Sudanese government has opened seven crossings and six airports for flights transporting humanitarian aid from Port Sudan Airport to other regions, in addition to the Dabba and Sennar roads, and is now working on air-dropping humanitarian assistance to areas in South Kordofan via Juba Airport.
He also thanked the high-level UN delegation members for their visit and their assistance to Sudanese citizens facing the current crisis.
The UNHCR and UNICEF representatives expressed their appreciation for the Sudanese government’s commitments to delivering aid to affected communities through the Adre and Tina crossings. They also affirmed their efforts to increase the volume of humanitarian aid provided to Sudan, particularly to assist the displaced and refugees, acknowledging that despite its current circumstances, Sudan continues to host millions of refugees.
