Al-Sudani Announces the Killing of “Wali of Iraq” in ISIS
During a joint military operation in the Hamrin Mountains, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, announced on Tuesday the killing of the so-called “Wali of Iraq” in ISIS during a joint operation north of the capital, Baghdad.
In a press statement, Al-Sudani said, “We congratulate the Iraqi people on the killing of the so-called ‘Wali of Iraq’ in the terrorist organization ISIS, along with 8 of the group’s senior leaders.”
Al-Sudani added that “the heroic and exceptional operation was carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Service and the National Security apparatus, under the supervision of Joint Operations, and targeted the hideouts of the terrorists in the Hamrin Mountains.”
The Prime Minister continued, “We commend the efforts of all the brave members of our security forces and affirm that there is no place for terrorists in Iraq. We will pursue them to their hideouts and eliminate them until Iraq is cleansed of them and their heinous acts.”
In a related statement, the Joint Operations Command confirmed that the operation, which took place at dawn on Tuesday, led to “the killing of Wali of Iraq, the criminal named Jassim Al-Mazroui Abu Abdul Qadir, along with other first-line leaders of ISIS gangs.” The statement also emphasized that the names of the other leaders and further details would be revealed later after conducting thorough DNA tests.
The Joint Operations Command explained that the operation involved “technical support, the exchange of precise intelligence information from international coalition forces, and was overseen by the head of the Counter-Terrorism Service along with several security leaders and directors of the National Security apparatus, in coordination and follow-up by the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations.”
