Aston Villa Defeats Bologna in the Champions League

Aston Villa continued their perfect start in their first UEFA Champions League appearance in 41 years by defeating Bologna 2-0 on Tuesday, thanks to second-half goals from John McGinn and Jhon Durán.
Unai Emery’s side created several chances before McGinn opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a free-kick that sailed over the players’ heads into the far corner. After a VAR check for a potential handball, the goal was confirmed.
Durán, who had led Villa to victory over Bayern Munich with a late-game performance three weeks earlier, doubled Villa’s lead in the 64th minute after controlling a cross from Morgan Rogers and finishing into the bottom corner.
With this win, Aston Villa temporarily tops the group in the elite European club competition with nine points, while Bologna sits with one point after one draw and two losses.
