Burber Executive: Mining is an Economic Addition with Negative Environmental Effects

A delegation from the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority, headed by Rahba Said Abdullah, the Director of the Authority, held a meeting chaired by Hassan Ibrahim Karar, the Executive Director of the Burder locality, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Said Ahmed, the Director of the Authority’s branch in the state.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Executive Director of Burder locality provided a briefing on the components of the locality, including economic, agricultural, industrial activities, and investment projects, noting that Burder is three-dimensional, explaining that mining is an economic addition but also has negative environmental impacts. Rahba praised the performance in the field of standards and specifications at the Al-Obeidya office and mentioned that Burder is witnessing industrial expansion, which requires adherence to standards to protect consumers and enhance production. Dr. Yusuf Bashir, Director of the Security and Intelligence Agency in Burder locality, stated that expanding activities in all its aspects requires more expertise and development, emphasizing the importance of strict legislation and laws to ensure public health safety.
Delegates from the authority emphasized the need for training workshops and programs to raise awareness of the importance of standards in people’s daily lives. At the end of the visit, the local executive director was honored by the authority in recognition of his supporting efforts for the work of the Standards and Metrology Authority in the locality. Rahba also visited the standards office in Al-Obeidya, observed the workflow, and promised to alleviate administrative and technical obstacles. Additionally, the Director-General of the authority witnessed the opening of the export development village in Al-Obeidya Al-Faruq and toured the women’s products exhibition.
