Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Gezira Conference reported that retaliatory attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on villages in eastern Gezira resulted in the deaths of more than 300 innocent people in the city of Tamboul.
It confirmed that the militia’s bloody hands extended to more than 30 villages in eastern Gezira, where the residents are now fleeing in search of safe havens. A statement from the Gezira Conference said: “The bloodthirsty militia also attacked other villages in northern and central Gezira, with the latest being the village of ‘Azraq’ in Kamlin locality, where 10 innocent souls were killed under brutal militia abuse. Our field teams continue to document the violations despite increasing difficulties caused by communication network outages.”
The statement urged people of conscience around the world, human rights organizations, humanitarian agencies, and United Nations bodies to urgently intervene to protect civilians and press for the formation of an international investigation committee by the Security Council to investigate the grave violations committed by the RSF militia in Gezira State. It warned that any delay would result in a humanitarian disaster and more massacres exceeding the scale and brutality of those in Rwanda and Darfur.
The Gezira Conference also warned RSF leaders against continuing their bloodshed of innocent people, emphasizing that they must bear full responsibility for their actions, which they will be held accountable for, sooner or later.
