Motsepe to Run for Second Term as CAF President
Patrice Motsepe, the current CAF President, plans to run for re-election in March 2025. According to a brief statement on CAF’s official site, his candidacy follows requests from numerous heads of national and regional federations. Motsepe was elected in March 2021, succeeding Ahmad Ahmad amid corruption allegations and after a highly influential era under Cameroon’s Issa Hayatou, also marred by scandals. The upcoming general assembly will fill the president’s seat, along with roles on CAF’s executive committee and African representatives on FIFA’s Council.
