Even the most pessimistic minds could not have imagined that the Rapid Support Forces militia would reach this level of disregard for innocent blood. No one could fathom the extent of its brutality—shedding blood, violating dignity, torturing the elderly and women, and demanding ransom for the release of civilian captives in broad daylight. Yet, it appears that the same circle of aggressors that wreaks havoc in Gaza and Lebanon is now committing atrocities in Gezira.
The militia’s brazen disregard for international and humanitarian law, and its own documentation of these crimes, stand as evidence of the protection it receives from the UAE and other international players. This has emboldened it to proceed with Plan (B): adopting scorched-earth tactics in an attempt to break the Sudanese people’s will, instill fear, and spread terror in their hearts. It’s expected that this will lead to further bloodshed, as the Sudanese people are determined not to yield or surrender, while the armed forces and supportive groups continue toward their goal of liberating all Sudanese territories from the grip of the rebel Daglo militia, regardless of the sacrifices involved.
The terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia has invaded over 30 villages in Gezira, in addition to launching barbaric attacks on Tamboul, Al-Hilaliya, and Rufa’a. Initial estimates indicate that more than 600 citizens were executed by gunfire, though figures on the wounded and missing remain unavailable. In the absence of any emergency or medical services, the death toll is likely to rise.
These assaults, crimes, and violations by the Rapid Support Forces militia again affirm its brutality, bloodthirstiness, and inhumanity, killing indiscriminately—whether women, the elderly, or children. It is a fitting response to those advocating for coexistence and civil administration, including certain political leaders under the “Taqaddum” banner. This serves as undeniable proof that coexistence with this militia is impossible; it only knows killing and destruction. What has unfolded in Gezira, once touted as a model for civil administration, has become a theater for all manner of crimes and violations. These events unequivocally confirm that this militia has no place in Sudan’s future.
It is clear that the militia is now enacting what it calls Plan (B), involving murder, rape, looting, and displacement. This reflects the misguided and bleak vision of a faction of misled political leaders. Instead of demanding that the criminal militia stop killing civilians, they appealed to the international community for protection, insulting our intelligence. They are, in fact, true accomplices in these crimes, despite their denials, unable to condemn this blatant aggression against unarmed civilians as it deserves. This stance is disgraceful and clearly demonstrates the subservience of these forces to the militia and its sponsor, the UAE—a close ally of Zionism and Israel.
The ongoing aggression against unarmed civilians and the country as a whole places a great responsibility on all Sudanese people, requiring them to stand united against the militia and its backers, to defeat its project of occupying the Sudanese state, displacing its people, and settling mercenaries and Arab diaspora within its borders.
These crimes are one outcome of the project of coexistence and the establishment of civil administrations. From the perspective of its proponents, this may be an attempt to carve out part of the state as a prelude to division. This is connected to what is happening in Darfur, where there is an effort to impose civil administrations led by weak-minded individuals, with attempts to capture Al-Fasher to establish a Daglo emirate in Darfur. This is the other face of what happened in Gezira—killing, looting, and displacement. The civil administrations bear direct responsibility for sponsoring and encouraging some locals from militia-controlled areas to join as recruits. Testimonies and video clips confirm that some locals from Gezira’s villages and camps participated in the massacres, torturing and killing their fellow villagers in cold blood. The victims, killed by the hands of the militia and its collaborators, are martyrs, blessed and sustained by their Lord; may they rest in peace, and may their families find solace.
