Launch of Cash Assistance for Displaced Persons in Sennar

The Ministry of Health and Social Development in Sennar State, through the Social Security and Welfare Center, launched on Sunday, in the Um Shajirat camp for displaced persons in Sennar, a program for direct strategic cash payments targeting 6,000 families with a total cash distribution of 300 million Sudanese pounds. Mohamed Mahdi, Acting Commissioner of Social Security and Welfare, stated that the cash payment program targets five camps for displaced persons in Sennar State under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Development in Sennar, supported by the Federal Social Security Commission and the state’s Ministry of Finance, and will continue until November 15. Mahdi praised the efforts of the armed forces and other regular forces and the victories achieved in all combat fronts, as well as the resilience of the displaced persons. He noted that this support covers the third and fourth payments for 2022 and significantly contributes to assisting displaced persons affected by the war. For his part, Mohamed Hamid Bajoun, representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sennar, confirmed that the assistance provided to the displaced by various organizations covered 70% of the needs of displaced persons through cash distribution and food baskets, highlighting ongoing efforts to document the displaced and provide them with various shelter services. Meanwhile, Hassan Muhammad, administrative supervisor of the Um Shajirat camp for displaced persons in Qadarif, explained that the camp received all shelter aids, which alleviated the suffering of the displaced, along with direct cash assistance.
