Argentine Martínez Wins the Yashin Trophy for the World’s Best Goalkeeper

Emiliano Martínez, goalkeeper for the Argentine national team and Aston Villa in the English Premier League, won the Yashin Trophy for the world’s best goalkeeper during the France Football awards ceremony on Monday.
Martínez became the most-awarded player in Yashin Trophy history, winning it for the second consecutive year.
He surpassed Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simón, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
During his acceptance speech, Martínez said: “I’m honored to be back here, and I thank everyone who helped me win this award.”
Martínez contributed to Argentina’s victory in the Copa América, just under two years after helping the team win the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
