Tour de France Returns to the Champs-Élysées

Tour de France organizers announced on Tuesday that the race will once again end on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in 2025. The 2025 Tour will feature an entirely French route for the first time in five years and a finish on Mont Ventoux for the first time since 2013.
The women’s race will include a ninth stage, running from July 26 to August 3, starting in Brittany and finishing at Chatel les Portes du Soleil.
In 2024, the men’s race won’t end in Paris for the first time since the event began in 1903. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar took the title in Nice due to Paris hosting the Summer Olympics.
The 2025 Tour will start in Lille on July 5, with the first stages covering flat terrain before moving into the mountains.
Race director Christian Prudhomme noted, “It’s a deceptively flat first week, with four finishes on climbs.”
He added, “I doubt that Thierry Gouvenou, who mapped out the route, left a single ascent untouched between Lille and Brittany.”
The tenth stage, coinciding with Bastille Day on July 14, will be a challenging 163 km from Inza to Le Mont-Dore, followed by a grueling 174 km stage from Montpellier to Mont Ventoux in stage 16.
