Sudan Events – Coverage
Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, affirmed that the Sudanese people are facing a war targeting their existence, state, civilization, and infrastructure by the Rapid Support Forces militia, which has recruited foreign mercenaries to seize power and undermine the transitional period. He noted that the militia has committed actions unrelated to the Sudanese people, including murder, rape, theft, and looting. Speaking at the World Urban Forum in Cairo on Monday, al-Burhan described these acts as crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. He stated that the Sudanese people and their armed forces are determined to preserve the state and its institutions and defeat this plot, looking forward to a significant role from friendly and allied countries, stakeholders, and specialists in preparing the urban sector affected by this systematic targeting by the militia, backed by regional and international forces, and in readying for the reconstruction phase for Sudan’s sectors after the war, which he stated will begin soon.
Al-Burhan added, “I trust that the forum’s recommendations will support the Sudanese people in their aspirations to rebuild their country and drive genuine development that will uplift the region and attract friends and partners,” and continued, “Thank you, Sudan’s allies; thank you, Sudan’s friends; and patience, people of Sudan.”
