Foreign Ministry: The Militia Exploited the Adre Crossing and Brought in Dozens of Trucks Loaded with Weapons and Thousands of Mercenaries

Sudan Events – Follow-up
The Sudanese Ambassador to Paris and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Dr. Khaled Mohamed Farah, confirmed that what has been happening in Sudan since April 15, 2023, is not a conflict between two generals over power, nor is it a civil war as analysts portray it. Instead, it is a failed coup attempt against the constitutional order and the legitimate government that was in place and still leads the country.
The ambassador said in a press conference at the mission’s headquarters on Wednesday that several neighboring countries and states in Sudan’s regional environment have been providing direct support to the militia, including arms, funding, facilitating the passage and transport of weapons across their borders, and sending fighters from different nationalities as mercenaries to fight alongside the militia against the Sudanese Armed Forces. He added, “Despite all this, the international community has remained silent about what is happening in Sudan at the hands of this militia and its regional and international sponsors.”
Regarding the UAE’s support for the rebellion, Ambassador Farah clarified that Sudan had lodged an official complaint against the UAE with the United Nations Security Council, pointing out the destruction, devastation, killings, and displacement of civilians caused by this war. On the current security situation, he stated that the Sudanese Armed Forces have made significant progress recently by regaining several strategic locations in various combat areas, especially in the capital and the strategic Jabal Moia region in central Sudan.
On the situation in the Al-Jazeera state, the ambassador said that the militia had committed genocide against innocent, defenseless civilians in several areas and villages, including Tamboul, Al-Sireeh Azraq, and others. He described these actions as war crimes and crimes against humanity, referring to the displacement and forced migration of citizens caused by attacks on these areas. He called on the international community to immediately label the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as a terrorist group.
Regarding regional and international efforts to resolve the situation, Ambassador Farah mentioned that the Sudanese government had welcomed all initiatives, foremost among them the Jeddah Agreement, which the militia did not abide by. He pointed out that the Sudanese government had officially agreed to open several border crossings with neighboring countries to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into war-affected areas, including the Adre crossing. He emphasized that the militia and its regional sponsors had recently exploited this crossing to bring in dozens of trucks loaded with weapons and thousands of mercenaries to fight alongside them.
He urged the international community to take responsibility for the regional and international sponsors of the rebellious militia and stop supporting them. The ambassador affirmed that the Sudanese government welcomes peaceful solutions to end this war, provided that the sovereignty of the Sudanese state and the dignity of its people are respected.
