Government to Decide the Fate of Adre Border Crossing

Sudan Events – Agencies
Sudan’s UN mission in Geneva intends to determine the future of the Adre border crossing between Sudan and Chad after the three-month period allocated for humanitarian aid access expires on November 15, 2024.
Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Hassan Hamid Hassan, told “Anadolu Agency” that the Sudanese government is still assessing the situation, balancing security risks with humanitarian access needs.
Diplomatic sources told “Ultra Sudan” that when Sudan’s Sovereign Council initially opened the Adre crossing in mid-August 2024, the UN had minimal infrastructure to transport aid and faced limited donor support, enabling only a few trucks to reach Darfur.
