Plans to Reach Zero Export Fees for Gold Through Unified Window
Sudan Events – Rahab Abdullah
Dr. Saifuddin Muhammad Ayoub, Director of the Unified Gold Export Window, announced plans to reduce export fees for gold processing through the unified window to zero. Dr. Saif stated that all customs-related fees have been waived, and discussions with the Chamber of Commerce are underway to offer fee-free services. The Chamber has also prepared a system for issuing certificates of origin, moving towards full fee exemption for Chamber members and exporters.
Dr. Saif noted that the Ministry of Minerals and the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company have eliminated fees for forms, leaving minimal and symbolic fees to facilitate the process. He emphasized that 80% of the fees have been waived, and further studies are underway to consider additional exemptions, although certain fees tied to agreements remain in place. He emphasized that the unified window entails a sequential process to confirm previous procedures and documents, with little room for manipulation or regulatory violations.
