The Last Car Driven by Michael Schumacher Up for Auction

Starting tomorrow (Thursday), the last Ferrari driven by Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher will be auctioned in New York by Sotheby’s.
According to the German news agency, Schumacher drove the Ferrari 248 F1 in his final season with the Italian team in 2006, winning five Grand Prix races with it.
Thanks to this car, Schumacher surpassed the late Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna’s record for the most pole positions in Grand Prix history. Later, British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton broke this record, starting from pole in 104 races.
Schumacher won the Formula 1 World Championship seven times, including five consecutive titles with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004. However, he couldn’t clinch his eighth title with the 248 F1, as Fernando Alonso took the 2006 title.
The car was purchased directly from Ferrari by an anonymous owner in December 2007.
In 2022, one of Schumacher’s Ferrari cars from the 2003 season sold at auction for nearly 15 million euros. The 248 F1 is expected to fetch a similar amount.
Schumacher retired after the 2006 season, returned to Mercedes in 2010, and ended his career in 2012.
In 2013, he suffered a serious head injury in a skiing accident. Since then, his family has kept his condition private.
