The periodic meeting of the Committee for Implementing Recommendations on Foreign Presence in Khartoum was held, chaired by Ihab Hashim Ismail, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Local Governance.
The meeting discussed various issues, including how to prepare a comprehensive census of the foreigners who have been removed, those still waiting, and those who have not been reached by the ongoing campaigns. The meeting also reviewed the activation of the committee’s work and the implementation of its recommendations.
The committee agreed to seek a proper facility for detaining foreigners pending deportation and to address the legal situation of displaced foreign children. The Foreign Affairs Department also discussed the formation of a media support mechanism to spread awareness about the risks of foreign presence.
The Director of Foreign Affairs reported that 32 campaigns had been carried out from July 13 to October 2024, resulting in the arrest of 592 foreigners and 416 voluntary returns, bringing the total number of foreigners to 1008.
