“Solidarity Grand Prix”: Bagnaia Wins Sprint Race, Keeps Title Fight Alive
The MotoGP World Championship title will be decided on the final day of the season after reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati claimed victory in the sprint race of the season-ending Solidarity Grand Prix. Championship leader Jorge Martín finished third on Saturday.
With this win, Bagnaia narrowed the gap to Martín in the drivers’ standings to 19 points heading into Sunday’s race. Starting from pole position, Bagnaia has the chance to secure his third consecutive title if he wins the race.
Martín chased Bagnaia for several laps but was overtaken on the final lap by Ducati’s Enea Bastianini, leaving the Pramac Racing rider to settle for third place.
The final race is being held in Barcelona, which already hosted a MotoGP event in May. Catastrophic flooding in Valencia forced organizers to relocate the finale to Catalonia’s capital.
