Efforts to Resume Market Operations in Omdurman

Merchants in Omdurman’s markets have begun efforts to revive business in the suspended markets.
The Goldsmiths’ Committee and Gold Exporters in Omdurman held an important meeting with the executive director of Omdurman locality, Saif al-Din Mukhtar, to coordinate cleaning and maintenance activities for gold shops and exhibitions in the Omdurman market.
Saif al-Din Mukhtar, executive director of Karari locality, listened to updates from the Goldsmiths’ Committee and gold traders in Omdurman. He welcomed full coordination with the committee regarding market cleaning and shop maintenance. He also pledged to provide adequate security in cooperation with local police and other security forces. Mukhtar noted that the Governor of Khartoum is closely monitoring efforts to revive Omdurman, including the markets.
The committee’s secretary, Hasbu Ibrahim Tibedi, affirmed the support of all goldsmiths and gold exporters across Sudan for the state in its efforts to defend national dignity.
He stated, “The current war is a battle against the people of Sudan, their economy, and their wealth. As goldsmiths and gold traders, we will stand united with the armed forces in this battle for dignity and will never stop contributing to driving the national economy forward.”
