Hezbollah announced that its fighters targeted Israeli soldiers near the town of Markaba in southern Lebanon on Tuesday night with guided missiles, as they attempted to evacuate comrades who had been injured by similar missiles, confirming that the attack resulted in casualties among the forces.
In a statement, the Iran-backed group said, “Our fighters targeted an Israeli infantry force (…) with a guided missile, resulting in confirmed casualties.” The statement continued, “When a second Israeli infantry force arrived to evacuate the injured, it was targeted with a second guided missile, causing confirmed injuries.” Later, “a third Israeli infantry force tried to advance to evacuate the dead and wounded, and it was also targeted by Hezbollah fighters with a third guided missile, resulting in casualties.”
