A spokesperson for the Displaced Persons Coordination in the Darfur region announced on Tuesday that more than 3,000 people had fled Al-Fashir towards Jebel Marra due to the intensification of fighting between the conflicting parties in the city.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Displaced and Refugee Coordination in Darfur, Adam Rijal, it was stated that “about 642 families, totaling 3,210 individuals, fled from Al-Fashir and reached areas in Jebel Marra.”
Rijal explained that the displaced are living in extremely harsh humanitarian conditions, with no access to basic daily necessities such as food, medicine, and drinking water. He urged donors to increase financial support to meet the growing needs of the displaced, who are suffering from hunger, malnutrition, and other diseases.
