CAF Announces Nominees for Women’s Football Awards

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the shortlist for its 2024 women’s football awards today, with winners to be announced during a ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16.
CAF revealed the nominees for the Best Young African Female Player, which include Morocco’s Douha El Madani and Lina Mokhtar Jamal, Egypt’s Habiba Sabry, Cameroon’s Cathy Biya and Naomi Eto’o, Nigeria’s Chiamaka Okwuchukwu and Flourish Sabastine, South Africa’s Nthabiseng Magiya, Ghana’s Stella Nyamekye, and Kenya’s Valery Nekesa.
The Best African Female Player category features Morocco’s Douha El Madani, Khadija Er-Rmichi, and Sanae Msaoudi, Burundi’s Sandrine Niyonkuru, DR Congo’s Marvel Nangueyi and Lachou Flora Marta, Nigeria’s Emen Essien and Monlie Oyono, South Africa’s Amogelang Motau, and Uganda’s Shadia Nankya.
For the Best African Goalkeeper, nominees include Morocco’s Fatima Zahra Jebroui and Khadija Er-Rmichi, Egypt’s Habiba Sabry, Cameroon’s Cathy Biya, DR Congo’s Fideline Ngoyi, Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie and Monlie Oyono, along with Andile Dlamini, Thandeka Ngubane, and Zambia’s Catherine Musonda.
The Best African Women’s Club nominees include AS FAR (Morocco), Masr (Egypt), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Edo Queens (Nigeria), City Angels (Senegal), and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and the University of Western Cape.
Finally, the Best African Women’s National Team category includes Morocco (senior and U20 teams), Nigeria (senior, U17, and U20 teams), South Africa, Zambia, Cameroon (U20), Kenya (U17), and Malawi.
