Enrique Announces Ramos Nearing Return for PSG
Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain, announced on Thursday that forward Gonçalo Ramos is close to returning from injury. However, the coach also acknowledged dealing with injury concerns following the international break, ahead of PSG’s clash against Toulouse on Friday in Ligue 1.
Ramos sustained an ankle injury on the first day of the season. Enrique stated that the Portuguese striker would return to training on November 25, saying:
“He will be back on the 25th, leaving just a few days. He’s in the final stage of recovery. As for when he’ll play again, we’ll see in training. He’s doing very well.”
With several PSG players recently involved in international duty, and an upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, Enrique plans to rotate his squad.
PSG currently sits 25th in the Champions League phase standings, which includes 36 teams—a disappointing position outside the knockout qualifying spots.
“We need to consider not only the Toulouse game but also the workload from international matches,” Enrique explained. “Our main goal is to win against Toulouse, but we’ll make decisions based on what we see.”
One player unaffected by the international break is winger Ousmane Dembélé, who withdrew from France’s squad due to a thigh issue. However, he is expected to be available for PSG.
“The injury wasn’t serious, just a minor issue,” Enrique clarified. “These things happen during the season. It’s natural in such a packed schedule, and he should be ready to play.”
Defender Nuno Mendes, meanwhile, suffered an ankle sprain during international duty with Portugal. While Enrique downplayed the severity, he remains uncertain about Mendes’ availability for the Bayern game.
PSG leads Ligue 1 with 29 points, six ahead of Monaco. Meanwhile, Toulouse, in 10th place with 15 points, enters Friday’s match on a high after three consecutive wins.
