Sirens Sound Across Ukraine Amid Threat of Air and Missile Attacks
Sirens warning of potential air and missile attacks sounded across Ukraine early on Thursday morning.
The Ukrainian National News Agency (Ukrinform) reported that a Russian hypersonic “Kinzhal” missile targeted the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The “Ukrainian agency” said the missile was launched from a MiG-31 fighter jet, without providing further details.
Ukrainian air defenses issued an alert shortly afterward via the Telegram app regarding the potential launch of multiple “KH-101” cruise missiles.
It said these stealth-equipped missiles were likely launched from Tu-95 strategic bombers near Engels city in Russia’s Saratov region. No further details were immediately available.
Kyiv recently marked the 1,000th day since the Kremlin started the war in February 2022.
Moscow currently controls about one-fifth of Ukrainian territory, including the Crimean Peninsula, which it forcibly annexed illegally in 2014.
