Iraq Holds the U.S. Responsible for Any Israeli Attacks Against It
The Iraqi government stated that, under the Strategic Framework Agreement and the Security Agreement, the United States bears responsibility for “deterrence and response to any external attacks affecting Iraq’s internal security.”
Fadi al-Shammari, political adviser to the Prime Minister, said, “Israeli threats are not new; they are repeated, as evidenced by the complaint submitted to the Security Council.”
According to media reports, Washington informed Baghdad that Israeli strikes against Iraq are “imminent” unless Baghdad prevents Iran-backed factions from launching attacks against Israel.
