Sovereign Arrangements to Address Farmers’ Debts
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, Member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, urged farmers who lost equipment, assets, and agricultural tools due to the war to file complaints with the Public Prosecution to safeguard their rights and seek ways to resolve their debts.
During a meeting with the Blue Nile Farmers Union in his office, Jaber directed relevant authorities to arrange and address the situation of institutions supporting farmers, particularly the Registrar of Agricultural and Livestock Producers’ Associations and financing institutions.
Abdel Hamid Adam Mokhtar, Secretary-General of the Qalaa Specialized Union in the Blue Nile region, stated that the meeting discussed various agricultural issues and challenges facing the sector. He highlighted the presentation of the “Safety for Sudan Initiative,” aimed at addressing agricultural issues and planning for post-war recovery.
The initiative targets all states and sectors of agriculture and livestock in Sudan, aiming to establish a strong economic and social force. Mokhtar added that they plan to develop the producers’ sector based on sound principles under the Agricultural and Livestock Professions Organization Act, seeking to establish 4,500 associations and grassroots organizations to address financial and economic policies.
