Sudan Events – Agencies
The World Bank announced a new grant to support the operation of thousands of schools, ensuring that 4 million children across Sudan receive primary education.
In a statement reported by Sudan Tribune on Saturday, the World Bank said it allocated $41.9 million to Sudan’s Primary Education Project to support the operation of 3,000 schools, aiming to improve education environments and planning.
The grant aims to ensure continued education for approximately 4 million school-aged children by mitigating learning losses and supporting social and emotional well-being through educational programs and distance learning.
The project will focus on enhancing school management capabilities and supporting at-risk children, particularly displaced ones. It will be implemented by UNICEF.
Mary Shogo, Senior Education Specialist at the World Bank, described the new project as a critical intervention to support Sudan’s education system by providing resources and assistance.
She emphasized that the project aims to ensure children can continue their education and build a better future for themselves and their country.
