Major Mining Awareness Campaign in Northern State

The Director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company office in Northern State, Abdel Rahman Mahjoub Al-Nadheef, affirmed their commitment to proceeding with all service projects aimed at upgrading and developing the mining sector in the state, while prioritizing the health and safety of mining workers and host communities.
Speaking during the launch of the major mining awareness campaign, attended by the executive director of Dongola locality, Dr. Makawi Al-Khair Al-Wagie, the Director of Mining Security Police, market managers, and miners, Al-Nadheef stated that the campaign aims to raise awareness about the risks faced by miners and to emphasize their health and safety to drive production forward. He commended the efforts of the Ministry of Health, the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, and the Civil Defense Forces, as well as the health departments in localities, for their cooperation with the company office in ensuring the success of the awareness campaigns in various mining markets and areas.
Al-Nadheef praised the contributions of miners at the Al-Qaab market to public initiatives supporting the armed forces and waste disposal projects in Dongola locality.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Environment and Safety Department at the Northern State office of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Tamer Abdel Salam, revealed the continuation of the major mining awareness campaign, which began Thursday, in mining markets, companies, and host areas. This effort is in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, and the Civil Defense Forces, under the slogan “Your Safety and Health Are More Precious Than Gold.”
He confirmed that the campaign is progressing well according to its planned schedule and has reached a large number of mining markets and waste processing companies in Northern State. He detailed that the campaign includes educational lectures presented by the Sudanese Red Crescent Society and Civil Defense Forces, as well as theatrical awareness shows, contests, prizes, and the distribution of environmental and safety guidance materials.
He emphasized that the campaign seeks to increase awareness of the risks faced by workers in the mining sector, focus on their health and safety, and promote safe mining practices that help preserve the environment and boost production. He praised the extensive coordination and collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, and the Civil Defense Forces, which have shown a strong commitment to ensuring the campaign’s success, continuing until November 25.
