The Khartoum State Government Council approved a winter disease vector control plan in its Sunday meeting chaired by Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza. The plan was presented by the Minister of Health, Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Amin.
The meeting directed the provision of plan components through a partnership between the Ministry of Health and targeted localities. The plan includes mosquito control at all life stages, the distribution of mosquito nets, and an increase in waste transportation rates.
In a different context, the council reviewed a report from the Director-General of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Qareeballah Mohamed Ahmed, on the partial start of the academic year. Classes for sixth-grade students, third-year intermediate students, and third-year high school students commenced Sunday with significant attendance from teachers and students, alongside enthusiastic support from parents.
The government praised the early preparations made by the Ministry of Education for resuming studies and emphasized the importance of implementing a meal program for teachers and students in schools. The Ministry of Social Development was instructed to call upon organizations and donors to contribute to the program. Additionally, the meeting stressed the need to address service deficiencies in schools.
