Unidentified Drones Fly Over Three Air Bases in the UK
The U.S. Air Force confirmed sightings of unidentified drones over three air bases in Britain.
The British news agency PA Media reported that the incidents occurred between November 20 and 22, involving “small drones” spotted over the Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Feltwell bases in Suffolk and Norfolk, which belong to the Royal Air Force.
The U.S. Air Force, which uses these bases, stated that it is unclear at this stage whether the drones pose a hostile threat.
It declined to comment on whether defensive measures were used but noted it reserves “the right to protect” its facilities.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Air Forces in Europe confirmed, “Unmanned aerial systems were spotted around the Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Feltwell bases between November 20 and 22, varying in number, size, and shape.”
A British Ministry of Defense spokesperson said: “We take threats seriously and maintain robust defense measures at our sites,” according to the BBC.
