Governor of Al-Jazirah Project: Militia Seizes 55% of Project Lands
Sudan Events – Reports
The governor of the Al-Jazirah Agricultural Project, Ibrahim Mustafa, revealed that militia forces have occupied over 55% of the project’s total area, seizing critical production equipment and causing widespread destruction. Despite these challenges, he described the farming season as successful, praising the resilience of farmers who endured the shocks and restored the project’s productive capacity.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the Minister of Agriculture in Port Sudan on Monday, Mustafa noted that the recent summer season saw the cultivation of over 600,000 acres. He highlighted that 30% of the cultivated area has already been harvested, emphasizing the success of farming operations despite the disruptive actions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The governor expressed his appreciation for the support of state leadership, represented by Sovereignty Council Member Engineer Ibrahim Jaber and the Minister of Agriculture, in resolving critical issues, including fuel shortages. He also commended the Ministries of Oil and Irrigation, the governor of Al-Jazirah, and the armed forces for their contributions to the season’s success.
