On Monday, the Resistance Committees of Wad Madani reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has restricted civilian movement in Gezira State, preventing residents from leaving the region.
A statement from the committees accused the RSF of “holding the people of the state hostage,” asserting that its civilian arm has banned travel and restricted movement beyond the state’s borders. This, they said, is a blatant violation of the right to freedom of movement guaranteed by national and international charters.
The committees warned that such actions turn civilians into human shields and make them pawns in the militia’s hands.
The statement reaffirmed the right to free movement as enshrined in international conventions and emphasized that these decisions emanate from an illegitimate authority lacking any recognition.
