Referee of Al-Hilal vs Al-Sadd match suspended

Reports revealed on Wednesday a decisive decision from the AFC referees’ committee regarding the referee of the Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia vs Al-Sadd Qatar match, which took place on Tuesday in the AFC Champions League.
According to Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, the refereeing team, led by South Korean referee Kim Young-Hyuk and the video assistant referees, will be suspended due to major errors made during the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The referees failed to award several penalties that could have secured a win for Al-Hilal. The refereeing committee expressed dissatisfaction with the performance, and a meeting is expected to be held with the referees in the coming days. It is anticipated that the referee team will not be assigned any matches in the sixth round of the AFC Champions League.
On Wednesday, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that it had opened a comprehensive investigation into the referee decisions in the Al-Sadd vs Al-Hilal match.
