Suárez extends his contract with Miami for another season
On Wednesday, Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami announced that Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez had signed a contract extension, keeping the 37-year-old player with the team for the upcoming season.
According to Reuters, Suárez, who has played for Liverpool, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid, joined Miami in December of last year to play in the 2024 season, alongside his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
Miami topped the regular season standings of Major League Soccer, winning the Supporters’ Shield after collecting a record 74 points from 34 games. Suárez scored 20 goals in 27 matches, but the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Suárez, who said “Miami will be my last club,” made his 143rd and final appearance for Uruguay last September, becoming the country’s all-time top scorer with 69 goals.
