Trump Appoints Massad Boulos as Senior Advisor for Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs
The elected U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has chosen Massad Boulos as his senior advisor for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs. In a statement, Trump added that Massad, who is the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany, is “an outstanding lawyer and highly respected leader in the business world with vast international experience.” He continued, “Massad is a dealmaker and a steadfast supporter of peace in the Middle East. He will be a strong advocate for the United States and its interests, and I am pleased to have him on my team.”
Boulos hails from a Christian family in Kfarakka in the Koura region of northern Lebanon. He moved to Texas as a teenager, enrolled at the University of Houston, and began engaging in Republican politics, according to the Financial Times. After graduation, Boulos worked with his family in the automotive industry in Nigeria. He later became the CEO of “Scoa Motors Nigeria,” which was founded in 1926 and sells and distributes buses and trucks from the German “MAN” group in West Africa. Boulos also managed his own company, “Boulos Enterprises,” based in Nigeria, which distributes and assembles motorcycles, tricycles, and scooters. Boulos has significant influence in the Nigerian market as the sole importer and distributor of Japanese “Suzuki” vehicles and Chinese “Jincheng” motorcycles, according to the Financial Times.
He also owns several companies based in the United States. His wife, Sarah Fadoul Boulos, is the daughter of another Lebanese-African tycoon who owns businesses spanning West and Central Africa, Europe, and Lebanon. They have four children: Fares, Michael, Orian, and Sophie.
