Arrangements for the Purchase of 50,000 Tons of DAP for Farmers

Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim has been reassured about the progress of preparations for the winter agricultural season and the availability of production inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and fuel necessary for farming operations.
During a meeting on Monday regarding the winter season, Jibril emphasized the government’s commitment to completing preparations and providing all necessary resources to ensure the success of agricultural operations. He pointed out the potential to utilize coordination opportunities through the World Food Programme to supply seeds and fertilizers to producers.
For his part, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, participating in the meeting remotely, confirmed that the preparation situation was reassuring, with the only threat being security obstacles. He revealed that the World Food Programme was ready to finance the purchase of 15,000 tons of urea fertilizer and 5,000 tons of DAP fertilizer.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Agricultural Bank, Mohamed Adam Abdel Karim, revealed that the bank had arranged to purchase 50,000 tons of DAP fertilizer for farmers. He announced the completion of DAP and urea fertilizer supplies for farmers in the Northern, Nile River, and West Gezira states, and efforts were ongoing to fund the purchase of additional fertilizers, sacks, and pesticides for farmers in other targeted states.
