Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has dismissed rumors linking the club with a move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
Speaking to Germany’s Sky Sports on Tuesday, Al-Khelaifi said: “The rumors about our interest in signing Salah are not true. He is an amazing player, but we have never considered signing him.” He added, “We are aware that many clubs are interested in Salah, but the speculation about us is baseless.”
Salah, 32, has fueled transfer speculation with recent comments hinting at a possible departure from Liverpool as his contract is set to expire at the end of this season.
After Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Southampton last week, Salah expressed frustration, saying: “I’m very disappointed. It’s December, and no one from Liverpool’s management has made any offer to renew my contract. I want to stay, but it’s out of my hands or the fans’. This might be my last season here.”
In other news, Al-Khelaifi defended PSG manager Luis Enrique, who is under pressure due to the team’s poor form and early struggles in the UEFA Champions League.
“Luis Enrique is the best coach in the world. He’s building a project for the future, and we have a long-term plan with him. Results are important, of course, but our main focus is on the broader project,” said Al-Khelaifi.
PSG currently sit 26th out of 36 teams in the Champions League standings with four points after five rounds, risking early elimination if they fail to win their next three matches against Salzburg, Manchester City, and Stuttgart.
