Gold prices in Sudan surged unexpectedly on Thursday due to the global increase in gold prices and citizens flocking to buy gold following the Central Bank of Sudan’s announcement of currency replacement for the 500 and 1,000-pound denominations.
The price of 24-karat gold reached 51,250 Sudanese pounds, equivalent to approximately $85.20.
Meanwhile, 21-karat gold was priced at 44,850 Sudanese pounds ($74.55), and 18-karat gold at 38,450 Sudanese pounds ($63.90).
A gold guinea was valued at approximately 358,750 Sudanese pounds ($596.40).
