German FA to Back Saudi Arabia’s Bid for 2034 World Cup
The German Football Association (DFB) announced its support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. At the same time, it reaffirmed its endorsement of the 2030 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. Delegates will vote during a virtual FIFA Congress next Wednesday, with no separate votes for each tournament.
After an extraordinary meeting in Frankfurt, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said:
> “This decision was not taken lightly. We carefully evaluated Saudi Arabia’s bid for the 2034 World Cup through consultations with various stakeholders and experts, and we made an informed choice.”
This announcement follows similar endorsements from the Swedish and Danish football associations.
