British Olympic Champion Marchant Hospitalized After Crash

The British Cycling Federation announced Saturday that Olympic gold medalist Katy Marchant was hospitalized following a crash during the women’s Keirin semifinal at the UCI Track Champions League in London.
Reports indicate that Marchant, a gold medalist in the team sprint at the Paris Olympics, fractured her arm after colliding with Germany’s Alessa-Catriona Pröpster. The crash sent both riders over the track barrier into the spectator area.
The UCI later suspended the evening’s remaining races due to the incident.
On Sunday, British Cycling confirmed via X (formerly Twitter): “After immediate care by track medical staff, Katy was taken to the hospital by our team doctor.”
X-rays revealed fractures in her wrist and ulna, along with dislocated fingers. Despite the injuries, Marchant is in good spirits and receiving excellent care from her medical team.
