The U.S. special envoy to Sudan, Tom Periello, expressed deep concern over calls by some factions in Sudan to unilaterally declare new governing structures.
Periello stated: “The United States is deeply concerned about reports indicating that some Sudanese factions and individuals are calling for the unilateral declaration of new, publicly announced governing structures in Sudan.”
The U.S. special envoy to Sudan emphasized that such a move could significantly destabilize the region and risk fragmenting Sudan.
