“Mineral Resources”: Gold Exports Surpass 58 Tons

Sudan Events – Reports
The Director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Taher Omar, announced that gold production has exceeded 58 tons, with state revenues from mining increasing to 300 billion pounds.
Speaking during the opening of the Unified Gold Export Portal in Port Sudan, Omar noted that 60% of the produced gold was exported, generating over $1.5 billion in export earnings within ten months.
Omar highlighted three key focus areas: increasing production through organized and traditional mining, addressing challenges in gold smuggling, and restoring foreign mining companies that left due to the war. He confirmed that efforts to enhance production have led to a significant increase in gold output.
The Director called for collective action to eliminate obstacles, address export challenges, and achieve “zero smuggling.” He pledged to resolve issues facing exporters and revealed that new policies for the upcoming year would soon be announced, including expanding the number of exporting companies.
