Mbappé Joins Real Madrid Squad for Intercontinental Cup Amid Recovery
French star Kylian Mbappé, a key player for Real Madrid, will miss one La Liga match due to a leg injury. However, manager Carlo Ancelotti hopes the forward will recover in time for the Intercontinental Cup next week.
Ancelotti confirmed on Friday that the left thigh injury, sustained earlier this week, will rule Mbappé out of Saturday’s La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.
Nevertheless, the Italian coach announced that Mbappé will travel with the squad to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18, where Real Madrid will face either Mexico’s Pachuca or Egypt’s Al Ahly.
Ancelotti told reporters:
“We’ll see if he can play without risking further injury. He’s traveling because we believe he can recover in time.”
Mbappé picked up the injury and was substituted after scoring during Real Madrid’s Champions League victory against Atalanta on Tuesday.
