Attempt to Smuggle Gold Foiled

Customs officials at Port Sudan Airport thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2 kilograms and 15 grams of processed gold. The gold was skillfully concealed around the passenger’s abdomen under clothing and disguised with a jacket.
The Acting Director-General of Customs Forces, Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, commended the vigilance and professionalism of customs officers in preventing attempts to smuggle national resources. He encouraged sustained dedication to protecting the national economy from smuggling risks.
In the same vein, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Nour Ali Al-Nour, Acting Assistant Director-General for Customs Operations, praised the airport customs team, highlighting their high efficiency and professionalism.
Brigadier General Hesham Mohammed Al-Hassan, Director of the Red Sea Customs Administration, noted the balance between facilitating passenger procedures and monitoring movement using advanced technologies, which significantly contributes to foiling smuggling attempts.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Khalid Othman Mohammed Al-Faki, Director of Port Sudan Airport Customs Division, affirmed the division’s commitment to facilitating procedures while intensifying surveillance to prevent all forms of smuggling. He reiterated that these seizures demonstrate the Customs Forces’ dedication to safeguarding the nation’s resources and confirmed that all necessary legal actions have been taken regarding the seized items.
