Sudan Events – Agencies
The International Institute of Social Studies, part of Erasmus University in the Netherlands, apologized for the participation of Al-Qouni Hamdan Daglo in a seminar on Sudan held by the institute on December 6. The seminar was organized by the Hague Peace Project and the Fanar Organization.
The institute stated in a press release that it was shocked to learn that one of the participants, Al-Qouni, was heavily involved in leading the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which is why he is subject to U.S. sanctions.
The institute clarified that Al-Qouni had been presented to them under a false name and that his associates broadcasted videos of his participation in the seminar to give him credibility.
The institute expressed deep regret over the incident and emphasized that it would not have allowed him to enter its premises had it known his true identity. It acknowledged that this participation added to the suffering caused by the war for civilians.
