Premier League: Jota Rescues Liverpool, Newcastle Triumphs with Four Goals
Diogo Jota saved Liverpool with a last-minute equalizer in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, despite Liverpool finishing the match with ten men.
Liverpool remains top of the Premier League table with 36 points and a game in hand due to last week’s postponed match against Everton.
Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for Fulham in the 11th minute, capitalizing on an error by Andrew Robertson. Robertson was later sent off in the 17th minute for a reckless challenge on Harry Wilson.
Cody Gakpo leveled for Liverpool in the 47th minute, heading in a superb cross from Mohamed Salah. Fulham regained the lead through Rodrigo Muniz in the 76th minute, but Jota equalized with a brilliant goal in the 86th minute to secure the draw.
Elsewhere, Arsenal and Everton played to a goalless draw, leaving Arsenal in third place with 30 points, one behind second-placed Chelsea.
In another match, Newcastle United thrashed Leicester City 4-0. Goals from Jacob Murphy, Bruno Guimarães, and Alexander Isak sealed Newcastle’s sixth league win of the season, placing them 11th with 23 points.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton suffered a 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town, who secured victory with a late goal from Jack Taylor in the 94th minute.
