Havertz of Arsenal: Everton Draw is Frustrating
Arsenal player Kai Havertz has called on the team to “stay united” following another setback in their Premier League title campaign this season.
According to the German News Agency (DPA), Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool in the title race. This came after Liverpool, led by Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah, were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham at Anfield on Saturday.
Arsenal also dropped two crucial points, drawing 1-1 with visiting Everton on the same day, a result that was met with some boos at the final whistle.
This was Arsenal’s second draw in just six days, leaving them with only 13 points from a possible 27 in their last nine league matches.
Havertz, who has scored only one league goal in the past two months, emphasized the importance of bouncing back ahead of their League Cup quarter-final clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. He also pointed out that the two teams will meet again at Selhurst Park in the Premier League next Saturday.
The German international stated: “We’re trying to focus on ourselves, aiming to win matches and collect points. I think the Everton draw was the most frustrating.”
Havertz added in remarks reported by the British news agency PA Media: “We couldn’t execute the small details in the penalty area. We didn’t find the final pass. Sometimes I think our positioning in the box wasn’t ideal, so we need to review and improve in upcoming matches.”
He stressed: “We’re trying to stay positive, stick together as a group, and make things better next time.”
Arsenal currently sits third in the Premier League standings with 30 points, six points behind leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.
