The Board of Directors of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority approved its technical and financial reports for the current year and the 2025 plan and budget, along with the council’s regulations and guidelines for its work.
During the opening session of the board meeting on Monday in Port Sudan, the member of the Sovereign Council, Brigadier General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of the authority as one of the country’s distinguished institutions. He stated that it is a critical pillar of society and plays a key role in the next phase, expressing full support for its efforts.
Jaber praised the authority’s staff, recognizing their contributions to Sudan’s progress, particularly during the war. He stressed the importance of their work in facilitating trade at borders and ports, and urged the board to take steps to support the authority in its vital role.
The Director-General of the Authority, Rahba Said Abdullah, revealed that the authority had issued 92 standard specifications, conducted document verifications for 3,242 shipments before shipping, and issued 69,978 certificates of conformity for imports, exports, and local products. Additionally, it carried out 13,652 inspection visits in stable states.
Board members also expressed their gratitude to the staff for their perseverance during difficult times, emphasizing the need to support the authority’s modernization efforts, including establishing modern laboratory systems and upgrading infrastructure.
